That might be the first thing coming into someone's mind when he/she is asked about Australia. That is true! No one doubts it! What is a kangaroo? How does live? What is a kangaroo's eating habits? Those might be the next questions! So, you may check up information I compiled from some websites.



Appereance

Kangaroos are heavily built; they are born the size of a lima bean, and grow taller than a human. They hop up to a speed of 60 kmh or 40 mph, and leap over things 3m or 10 ft. Kangaroo as similiar to jack rabbits in that they both hop, have fur, have big big upright ears, and can't walk backaward verry well. Kangaroo have a small head like a deer, and a pointed snout. The male kangaroos are larger than the female, and can jump 7 feet high, and travel 12mph.They have larger, poweful hind legs, and small front legs. They weight of the kangaroo is 18kg to 90kg. Males can weigh 100kg and grow 2.1 meters or 7 feet tall, females highest weight can be 30 kg.


Habitat
Althrough some smaller species of kangaroos live in New Guinea and on nearby island, most kangaroos live mainly in Australia. They live in the plains of northern Australia, the woodlands and forests, the deserts and dry grasslands of central Australia, and dry, rocky hills.

Behavior

The kangaroos usually are resting all day in the shade, coming out at late evening when it is much cooler to search for food. During cool months, however, they may also feed during the day. Kangaroo like wander around, especially on golf courses ignoring whizzing golf balls, boxing each other, or resting. The kangaroos are known as roamers by nature and show no respect for boundaries. When food or water is scarce, kangaroos usually live in groups of several hundred called mobs. The group have mostly males, and about 15 females.

Food Suply

At night during the summer, kangaroos graze on grass with sharp pointed leaves called spinifex, and low herbaceous plants. They like to eat large plants and will even devour cardboard. They need very little water to survive four mounths without water.
